earthquake tsunami

Giant wave tsunami devastated Aceh on December 26, 2004. Previous occur devastating earthquake in the seabed near the island of Simeulue. The following chronology of the tsunami disaster ten years ago.
 
December 26, 2004: At 7:59 local time, an earthquake measuring 9.1 to 9.3 on the Richter scale shook the seabed in the southwest of Sumatra, about 20 to 25 kilometers offshore. In just a few hours, a tsunami from the quake reached the African mainland.
December 27: The United Nations (UN) declared the tsunami in Aceh as the greatest humanitarian disaster that ever happened. International aid began to be driven to the disaster areas. The region worst affected by the tsunami was Aceh, Khao Lak in Thailand and most of Sri Lanka and India.
December 30: UN Secretary General at the time, Khofi Annan, calling the toll at least 115,000 people were killed. Germany sent a military plane that serves as a makeshift clinic to the disaster area. The German army Bundeswehr deployed to help victims of the disaster.
December 31: Indonesia declared as the worst tsunami disaster areas. The Indonesian government called the death toll will exceed 100,000 people.
